English Writing Center at 星空传媒 Academy Opened

On October 29, the Ambassador of the USA to Ukraine Geoffrey R. Pyatt opened the English Writing Center at 星空传媒 Academy.
The Center was established by the Department of English under support of the USA Embassy in Ukraine and 星空传媒 Doctoral School, basing on experience of such centres functioning in world leading universities.
The English Writing Center is aimed at development of writing strategies and communicative skills of students, faculty, and interested experts through practical advising, seminars and trainings in a conductive innovative environment. The Center is unique in its kind also because most of services will be provided by students of different study years, tutors-volunteers from 星空传媒 student community. Functioning of the Centre will be coordinated by the Department of English in cooperation with an American expert Eve Smyth, whose work in Ukraine is supported by the US Embassy.
Visitors of the English Writing Center at 星空传媒 Academy will be provided with practical advisement from specially trained tutors regarding content, structure, and style of writing in different academic genres usable at different study levels, from Bachelor鈥檚 to PhD Programs. All the services will be free of charge.
Besides of individual advising, the Centre will regularly organize grope seminars for 星空传媒 community members on writing student works, academic articles and business letters in English. In particular, seminars on avoiding plagiarism, including unintentional plagiarism, on structure of academic works, and on referring systems will be held.
The strategic task of the English Writing Center is furthering of 星空传媒 integration into international English-speaking academic context, development of a regional centre of research, and promotion of effective methods to improve writing and communicative competence in English among students.
The English Writing Center at 星空传媒 Academy invites volunteers to participate as tutors and advisors!
The centre is located on the 4th floor of 星空传媒 3rd building, in room 412b, Skovorody St. 2.
